Tum bin jaun kahan

Sargam notation for the song Tum Bin Jaun Kahan…

Singer : Kishore Kumar
Lyrics : Majrooh Sultanpuri
Music : R D Burman
Movie : Pyar Ka Mausam (1969)
Raag : Pilu

Scale : D#

I have produced this sargam on my E Bass Flute.

I’m writing below both versions of this song sung by Kishore Da and Rafi Saab.  I have included lyrics of all the 6 Antaras (yes, you won’t find these anywhere else at a single place!) of this song.

I have also included Prelude, Interlude and  music pieces of this song Tum bin Jaun kahan… Komal Nishad (n) and Komal Gandhar (g) swars have been prominently used, hence I think this song to be based on Raag Pilu (but, I’m not fully sure).

The Bengali version of this song, which was also sung by Kishore Kumar was released before this Hindi one. The title of the Bengali version is“Ek Din Pakhi Ude, Jabe Je Akashe…”  Bengali version of Tum Bin Jaun Kahan… will also follow the same notations.

Read an interesting analysis of the song Tum bin jaun kahan…

Follow these notations and enjoy playing this timeless song on flute and other instruments.
