Jahaan se niraala

Ho mil jaaye …

Kisi mod pe bhi na

Mere haath se tera
daaman na chhute …

Kabhi khwaab main bhi tu
mujhse na ruthe
Mere pyaar ki koi
khushiyaan na lute

Ho mil jaaye …

Mujhe tu sambhaale
tujhe main sambhaalu
Tujhe main jahaan ki
najar se chura loon
Kahi dil ke kone main
tujhako bitha doon

Ho mil jaaye is tarah …

TRIVIA

Did you know? When R.D. Burman (fondly called Pancham Da) composed “Tu Tu Hai Wahi” for the 1982 film Yeh Vaada Raha, he was blending Western disco elements with Indian romantic melody — a combination way ahead of its time. The electronic synth beats, catchy rhythm, and funky guitar made this track an instant favorite on dance floors and among young audiences.

This iconic duet was sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle — and here’s the twist: Asha Bhosle was married to R.D. Burman! It’s widely said that their personal chemistry added extra magic to the song. Asha’s playful yet smooth voice complemented Kishore’s effortless charm, making it a timeless love anthem. This song has seen multiple remixes over the decades — from the 1990s’ DJ Aqeel versions to countless dance covers on YouTube. Interestingly, even Gen Z listeners, who were born long after its release, groove to its beats — proving that R.D. Burman’s music transcends generations.

R.D. Burman was known for using unconventional instruments and sounds. For this track, he employed layered synths and drum machines, experimenting with sounds inspired by Western pop and disco — but all wrapped in an Indian melodic sensibility. It’s no wonder that many music directors today cite Pancham Da as the father of Indian fusion music. Whether it’s nostalgia, its infectious tune, or the magical voices of Kishore-Asha, “Tu Tu Hai Wahi” continues to charm fans old and new. It’s often played at retro-themed parties, karaoke nights, and even wedding sangeet playlists — proving that true musical genius never fades.

Yeh Vaada Raha had a unique plot: the heroine suffers a disfiguring accident and undergoes plastic surgery, played by two actresses before and after (Poonam Dhillon and Tina Munim). Despite this experimental storyline, the film’s biggest hit was its music, especially “Tu Tu Hai Wahi”. Even today, many remember the song more vividly than the film itself!
