    1. A dot (.) before a note means that the note has to be played at one octave lower than normal. In other words, you have to blow a little softer into your flute than normal to play a lower octave. Similarly, an apostrophe (‘) after a note means that the note has to be played at one octave higher, which you can achieve by blowing a little sharper into your flute.

    2. use your tongue to block the lips for a moment while continuing the blow. this will cause a break and you will get as many of the same note at the same time. or you may use another technique where momentary touch may be done on the lower note which also breaks the note
