Free sargam notations for the Punjabi song “Sanu sariya bisar gaiyan raha ve…”

Singer : Satinder Sartaj
Lyrics : Satinder Sartaj
Music : Satinder Sartaj
Album : Sajna (2026)

This is a Punjabi song of Sufi genre sung by Dr Satinder Sartaj. Yes, he is a PhD in Sufi music!  A melodious song probably composed in Raag Todi.  A bit difficult to play on flute for the beginners, but as I always say, practice is the only key.

But to make thigs easier for them, I have also written the notations away from the raag rules below.

So, here we have one set of notations based on actual raag and the other set for easier playing on flute.

And, just in case if you are looking for the translation of this beautiful Punjabi song “Kede Passe Jaiye Sajna”  in English, I have given the line-by-line translation at the end.

Interestingly, this song’s only one line (Mukhda) was featured in the movie Dhurandhar (2026) in the song titled “Jaiye Sajna” sung by Jasmine Sandlas under the music of Shashwat Sachdev.

TRANSLATION :

Sanu Saariyan Visar Gayian Raahvan Ve
I have forgotten all the paths;

Kehde Pasey Jaiye Sajana
which direction shall I take, beloved?

Kiven Russi Taqdeer Nu Manavan Ve;
How do I appease a fate that has turned away;

Kiddan Samjhaiye Sajna!
how do I make it understand, my love?

Apna Hi Des Jiven Hoya Pardes Ve!
My own land now feels like a foreign place.

Ambran Ne Paa Lae Shaami Kaale-Kaale Ves Ve!
The skies have draped themselves in dark evening robes.

Saade Naal Khafa Ho Gayian Havaavan Ve;
Even the winds seem upset with me;

Sadde Kihnu Laaiye Sajna!
whom shall I call out to, my love?

Seeneaan Chon Uthdi Ae Dardan Di Chees Ve!
From my chest rises a cry of pain.

Sanu Eh Pyar Kehdi De Gaya Asees Ve!
What kind of blessing has this love bestowed upon me?

Eho Dil De Vairag Hauke-Haavan Ve
These sighs and sorrows of the heart

Kis Nu Sunaiye Sajna!
to whom shall I narrate them, my love?

Sanu Taan Udaasi Diyan Pai Gayian Aadatan!
I have grown accustomed to sadness.

Gaman Naal Baith Roz Kariye Ibadatan!
I sit with grief and worship it every day.

Saathon Modh Liya Mukh Haase-Chaavan Ve!
Joy and laughter have turned their faces away from me;

Kikkan Manaiye Sajna!
how shall I reconcile them now, my love?

Pata Hi Ni Saade Kolon Hoye Ki Gunaah Ve!
I don’t even know what sins I committed.

Zindagi De Khwaab Saare Ho Gaye Tabaah Ve!
All the dreams of life lie shattered.

Kehde Jurmaan Ton Miliyan Sazaavan Ve,
For which crimes have I been punished;

Dosh Kihnu Laaiye Sajna!
whom shall I blame, my love?

Yaad Bada Aundiyan Ne Gallan Oh Puraniyan!
The old conversations return again and again.

Yaadan Naal Aukhiyaan Ne Umraan Langhaaniyan!
It is hard to live a lifetime with just memories.

Ohna Veliyan De Bojh Nu Uthavan Ve!
How do I carry the weight of those moments;

Bada Pachhtaiye Sajna!
I regret so deeply, my love!

Rabb Meharbaan Ho Ke Kare Karamaat Je!
If God, in mercy, works a miracle.

Ohi Suhne Veliyan Na Ho Je Mulaqat Je!
And those beautiful times meet me once again.

Es Zindagi Ton Chori Kujh Saahvan Ve,
Let me steal a few breaths from this life;

Khud Lai Churaaiye Sajna!
and keep them for myself, my love!

Samjhega Shaayad Es Pyaar De Rivaaz Nu!
Perhaps he will understand the customs of this love.

Dasso Koi Haal Ja Ke Saade Sartaaj Nu!
Go, tell my Sartaaj of my condition.

Aah Mohabbatan De Vaaste Main Paavan Ve;
For the sake of this love;

Geet Ohi Gaaiye Sajna!
let’s sing the same song, my love!
